About the club

Farul Constanța now brings together two sporting paths that need to be distinguished. The Farul name’s local history begins with Locomotiva Constanța, founded in 1949. The team also used the name FC Constanța and represented the city through numerous top division seasons. Reaching the Romanian Cup final in 2005 was a major achievement of the older club. Bankruptcy in 2016 was followed by SSC Farul, a supporters’ project that restarted in county football. The other component is Viitorul Constanța, Gheorghe Hagi’s project associated with the academy in Ovidiu. Viitorul won the league championship in 2017 and the Romanian Cup in 2019. In June 2021, the leadership of Farul and Viitorul announced that their projects would join. Viitorul’s operating company became FCV Farul Constanța and continued in the top division under Farul’s name and identity. The historic Farul seasons and Viitorul’s trophies therefore should not be presented as one uninterrupted legal history. The championship won in 2023 was achieved under the Farul name, with Hagi coaching a team strongly connected to youth development. White and blue preserve the link with Constanța’s football tradition. Home fixtures are played in Ovidiu following the deterioration and subsequent demolition of the older Constanța ground. LPF confirms the current organisation’s participation in the 2026–2027 Superliga.
