Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe

Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe was established in 2011 by László Diószegi and Dávid Kertész. Its name refers to local identity and the earlier Olt Sport Klub tradition without making the new club legally identical to older organisations. Red and white became its identifying colours. The team began in county competition and advanced rapidly through the national divisions. Promotion to the third division came in 2014, followed by the second tier in 2016 and a top division debut in 2017. Sepsi was the first club from Covasna County to reach that level. Investment in training infrastructure and youth development accompanied its consolidation as a professional team. Its first Romanian Cup final, in 2020, ended in defeat against FCSB. The club subsequently won the Cup in both 2022 and 2023, defeating Voluntari and Universitatea Cluj respectively. Each success was followed by a Romanian Supercup victory. Conference League appearances added a European dimension to a young organisation that has not won the national league championship. A new stadium opened in 2021 and replaced the Municipal Stadium as the principal home venue. Relegation in 2025 interrupted its first top division spell, but promotion in 2026 restored its place. LPF confirms Sepsi’s participation in the 2026–2027 Superliga, continuing a rapid rise that began only fifteen years earlier.
