About the club

FC Botoșani was established in 2001 in a city with an older but institutionally fragmented football history. Venus, Textila, Unirea and CS Botoșani belonged to earlier stages of the local game. Representing the same city does not make the present club legally identical to all those organisations. The project launched in 2001 began in the third division and reached Divizia B in 2004. Its decisive breakthrough came in 2013. Winning its second division group brought Botoșani County its first representative in Romania’s highest league. Based at the Municipal Stadium, the club subsequently built a sustained presence at that level. Developing players and moving them into the wider Romanian football market accompanied this consolidation among opponents with different resources and longer established national records. Botoșani entered European competition in 2015 through the Europa League qualifying rounds. It eliminated the Georgian team Tskhinvali before facing Legia Warsaw. The documented honours do not include a Romanian top division championship or Romanian Cup victory; the promotion campaigns of 2004 and 2013 remain important milestones in its development. The documented equipment includes a predominantly white home version alongside coloured alternatives. These changing playing strips form part of the team’s public appearance across successive campaigns. LPF confirms FC Botoșani’s participation and provides its squad for the 2026–2027 Superliga season.
